New Sprint Series great success
Posted by S. Allen at: 2.00 pm on April 15 th 2010
|
The Sprint Series races held for the Liverpool Cup and the most recent Resail day on the 17 th April were fantastic.
We will always be up against the weather to be able to start the racing early enough to get at least 5 races in,and
the 17 th was no exception, though we still managed 4 races.
Wayne Loder being the winner on the day in very light shifting winds that
challenged all skippers and crews.
We are planning to have as many Sprint Series races fitted into the season's schedule as we can without adding in
more race days.
The basic plan is to have them on 'unused' Resail days as we did on the 17 th,plus also for the 'Icebreaker Series'.
Ultimate aim is to introduce a Sprint Trophy or Shield for the racing season with the Lverpool Cup still a seperate
trophy but contributing to the overall season score, along with any other 'special races' using the same format.
The basic format will be as per the LC and the 17 th.
FORMAT for EST
11.00 AM race start.
Midday lunch-
1.00 PM race the afternoon out for as many races as possible.
Boat(s) crews will roster through start duty.
We all need to be at the Lake at least 1 hr before race start.
The first duty crew a bit earlier to set up the race course and get the paperwork sorted.
To all our new sailors.
This type of racing is the ideal format to hone your skills in a 'fun' environment.
To have multiple starts in pretty much the same conditions with the same fleet can do a lot to improve your confidence
and start/race tactics.
If you muck it up you don't have to wait another week to try to improve, you get another crack at it next race.
ALL GOOD FUN

CNLSC hosts Feb 2008 NS14 MT

On the grassy slopes of Grand Flanuer Beach at Chipping Norton Lake, skippers and crews
prepare their NS14's for racing.
The MT is a Metropolitan Trophy, for which NS14's race at selected yacht clubs around
the Sydney area throughout the year, this was our turn.
The current National Champion,'Tigger Too' skippered by Hugh tait from the Northbridge
Yacht Club, showed his winning skills with a runaway win in squally shifting winds on
our fantastic lake.
2 nd and 3 rd places were filled by our own 'Nomad' (Peter Spicer) and 'Rainbow Spirit'
(Russell Moore).
2004 Nicorette R/C model finally sets sail
Posted by S. Allen at: 11.00 pm on May 6th 2007
|
After 2 years in the build and many weeks waiting for the right light winds for her
first sail plus some frustrating gear failures during sets up on the bank,Stan Allen's
R/C model of the 2004 Sydney to Hobart winning Nicorette finally gets out on the water.
There's more info on her in the 'Twinbeach Modellers' pages under projects/Au,but
basically, she's 2 metres long with 11 remote functions including a fully automatic
functioning canting keel.
Now that she has successfully passed her first sailing test, the web pages will be further
added to with more info on her details and how she was built.
Congratulations to Rhapsody
Posted by S. Allen at: 7.00 am on April 12 th 2007
|
Congratulations to skipper David Cox and daughter Pip (crew) for their excellent
4 th place on handicap aboard Rhapsody.
Of the 6 CNLSC Ns14 teams that competed in the NSW NS14 State Champs at
Toronto,Lake Macquarie over the 2007 Easter long weekend,Rhapsody was the only
member yacht to finish all 6 races.
A strong 25+ knot squall blasted the 57 boat fleet during the first race, causing
havoc and damage to our other 5 entrants,Rhapsody kept it all together and made it to the
finish line.
Short Video clips added to gallery page
Posted by S. Allen at: 11:00am on Feb 29 th 2007
|
As we are now taking video of our sailing activities on the lake,I thought it would
be neat to include a short clip on the gallery page.
As I am limited with web hosting space, the clips have to be kept very short, about
2 mb in size and 20 secs duration.
I will also be adding similar clips for the model yachts and of course for Nicorette
when she can finally hit the water.
I do intend to 'swap' clips around regularly, not have the same one playing all the time.
Twinbeach Modellers and CNLSC sites combined
Posted by S. Allen at: 11:00am on Feb 29 th 2007
|
Both web sites are now combined into one.
The Twinbeach site is still there with only the front page and is automatically
redirected to the CNLSC site in 5 secs.
I'm not all that satisfied with the menu's so any feedback would be much appreciated.
Twinbeach Modellers - sailing days changed
Posted by S. Allen at: 1:00pm on Jan 29 th 2007
|
Starting from Feb 2007,the sailing days for the model yachts will change from 1st
and 3 rd sundays of each month to the 2 nd and 4 th sundays of each month.
This was brought about by our mates at Sydney A's, sailing now at Penrith, having
to switch around to suit the requirements of their new venue.
Also, the sailing calendars for both groups have now been combined into one on the
CNLSC site and Twinbeach will be linked to it.
Another project in the pipe is to combine both web sites into one, saving both time
and space.
Race Reports now coming on line on Results page
Posted by S. Allen at: 1:00pm on June 26 th 2006
|
The first of the clubs competition race reports, which also includes race results,
for the 24 th June has been posted on the RESULTS page.
Clicking the 'link' on the page for the resp date,as more are added, will take you directly
to that report.
There is a 'RESULTS' link for the resp days on the CALENDAR that will also take you directly
to that report.
A progressive pointscore table will be added very shortly and will most likely be placed
at the very bottom of the page with a link at the top so as not to block the 'RESULTS' links.
Lynne was the 'backbone' of this report,in that she jotted down some pertinant notes for me
as well as taking some photos with my camera, which she then emailed to me,including also
the race sheet.
I ask for all members on start duty to follow Lynne's lead by taking brief race notes to help
with the creation of race reports, can even write the full thing if you wish to be involved
with the process.
Our next aim is to have these reports published each week in the newspaper.
Full size yachties help modellers for the 2006 EC 12 SC

The dinghy sailors put their regular sailing to another day to assist
CNLSC-Twinbeach Modellers to run the East Coast 12 Metre State Champs
on the weekend of 11 th and 12 th march 2006.
Apart from Frank Spittle (modeller) as RO on the saturday, all other official duties were
performed by dinghy sailors, thus freeing up modellers normally involved, enabling them to
compete.
Our Commodore Russell was there both days and served as RO on the sunday.Others who gave
of their time were Lynne,Phil,Paula,Rod,Tina and Matt.
Lynne was again the behind the scenes player providing all with food and keeping the
mobile fridge topped up to quench everyones thirsty throats.
Our lake played it's part with perfect weather and conditions for the model class showing
once again to all the appreciative participants that the lake really is great for all forms
of yachting.
CNLSC has top time at Parramatta Park.
Posted by S. Allen at: 11:00pm on April 1 st 2006

Chipping Norton Lake Sailing Club and Twinbeach Modellers enjoyed a great day at
Parramatta Park for the Australia Day display.
We had several model yachts there representing 3 classes,A class,EC 12,and the
new Au maxi's.
Also on display was Chris Denman's NS 14.
Our main purpose for being there was to make more people aware of Yachting,
specifically Model Yachting, rather than just trying to get some new members.
There were many thousands of people roaming the park and taking in all the displays
and from the general conversations overhead,we were surprised at just how many were
unaware that Model Yachting even existed.
More amazing was that many were also unaware that Chipping Norton had lakes and
we sailed on them.
We have to therefore say that our mission was accomplished and we look foreward to
doing the display again next year.
A new Web Site for CNLSC.

Chipping Norton Lake Sailing Club and it's members have been without a
web site for some time after the loss of their host.
As I was building a new web site for Twinbeach Modellers I figured I
may as well do the main club site too.
Please report any difficulties to my personal email address shown at the
bottom of this page, or click this link--
EMAIL BUGS NOW --to send me a bug-report.I
also welcome any comments about the site.
Ultimately this site will have as many features and
information sources as time and space will permit.
I have a 10 mb limit to this particular web addy but have
a further 4 x 10 mb spots available to link with as required and shared
with the Twinbeach Modellers site,so I'll be keeping it as tight as possible.
